The 3-Step Setup: Soil, Pot, Seed — Terrace Gardening Starter Course

Most terrace plants don’t die from neglect.

They die in the first three weeks, in soil that turned into a solid block and
stopped letting air reach the roots. The plant yellows from the bottom up, you
think it needs more water, you give it more water, and it dies faster.

That isn’t a gardening failure. It’s a setup failure — and it was decided before
the plant went in.

Three things decide it. The soil you mixed. The pot you chose. And the way you
put the seed in the ground. Get those three right and a plant will very often
grow in spite of you. Get them wrong and nothing you do afterwards will save it.

This course covers all three, in the order you’ll actually do them.

You’ll mix your own potting soil using a ratio that works on a hot concrete
terrace, and learn why ground soil alone will never work in a container. You’ll
choose a pot by root depth rather than by how it looks, and check the drainage
before you fill it rather than after the plant is already in. And you’ll sow at
the right depth, at the right spacing, with the right watering — which changes
completely the moment the seed germinates.

Two tests are included that take ten seconds each and tell you whether your mix
is right before you plant anything in it.

You also get a printable one-page chart with the mix ratio, pot depths for six
common vegetables, and sowing depths. Print it and keep it where you mix.
